A Room with a View
A young Englishwoman abroad is given the room with a view she did not ask for, is kissed in a field of violets by a man her chaperone thoroughly disapproves of, and spends the rest of the novel being talked out of it. Forster's comedy is all in the timing and in what the Honeychurches decline to say aloud, which is exactly what a reading gives you and a page does not.
